My Heroes have always been Soldiers…

… every October usually around the first of the month I get a call from Butch (Harmon) and as he always does in his own way he says “Ricky Boy the Heroes are coming to town”. Harmon’s Heroes are wounded soldiers that embrace the game of golf. They are challenged to get better physically and mentally from their injuries suffered in recent months while they heal and adjust to a new way of life at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington D.C. so they will be in the running to be chosen from the wounded soldiers that love the game of golf to be a part of the wonderful 3 days Butch hosts them here in Las Vegas. Got a feeling they all will get the chance if I know Butch..

Most have some kind of loss of limb and playing golf with everything in place is hard enough as some of us certainly know… much less with one leg, one eye or even one arm. For three days the soldiers are schooled at the Butch Harmon School of Golf on how they can adjust their swing to compensate for their loss. Being around these fine young men for three straight days is such an uplifting experience for all of us that are involved with this wonderful event it’s hard to put into words. They never ask “why me?”, or bitch because they have to put on special leg just to swing a golf club club, never complain about being injured and truth be known would go back in a New York minute and continue to fight like hell for our freedom… They are so thankful for the opportunity to come out and get away from the hospital if only for three days. Troops First Foundation and it’s main man Rick Kell in conjuction with Butch and the Harmon’s Heroes is an amazing support group that help Soldiers go back over to the place where their injuries occured just so they can come back home on their own terms for some closure.

It is such a pleasure to have been asked by Butch from the beginning to help create Memories in the form of photos and Albums customized for each Harmon’s Hero. I get some wonderful notes of thanks from Butch and the Heroes but honsetly I’m probably getting as much or more out of this as they are. Of all the hundreds of thousands of photos I’ve taken…capturing a Memory for a soldier and of my grandson Miles stand alone…

I have recently teamed up with my friend John (Manni) and his main man Matt Preuss to help with his new Foundation “Operation Front Door” which will help train our soldiers for employment along with providing free housing ownership for our Soldier’s tansitition into civilian life. This is another incredible endevour that has already help put approx 1,000 soldiers to work and 1,000s more will benefit from Operation Front Door not only with housing but with jobs as well…

God Bless our Troops….then and now

My Heros Have always been Soldiers…

My Grandson Miles…

…really never thought too much about a grandchild until Mel and Chris got married and started a family of their own. I’m so ansy for him to walk and talk and run into my arms but certainly know first hand how fast the little ones grow into big ones…I remember like it was yesterday Mel heading off to her first day in the first grade. I think she was about 6 years old when I tried to explain to her that she would always be her daddy’s baby no matter how old she got or even when she had her own baby. I think she knows what I mean now!…as proud as I was of her when she walked across Lawler Events Center to get her College Diploma I am equally as proud of her for the Mother she is already.. One thing is for sure…as long as I’m around Miles will have a Passionate and Fun Gramps and a Passionate and Fun Photographer to cature his special moments and turn them into wonderful Memories!

Don’t forget to stop every now and then and make some Memories of your own…because some day…Memories will be all you have!

Caroline and Francois Special Day

… after Caroline saw our website www.martinphotogroup.com she made it clear to us we were the ones that were going to be turning her Las Vegas Wedding Photography moments into lifetime cherished Memories. Since it was just her and her fiance Francois we agreed the Limo Photography Tour ( thanks as always to Presidential Limos) we offer was just what she was looking for! …When I arrived Francois’ Tux hadn’t gotten there yet but Caroline was cool as a cucumber and was not going to let it ruin her day..10 mins later the tux made it.. so it worked out fine..we headed out on what would become one of the funnest days with one of the finest couple we’ve ever had the pleasure of working with….We had a great time and I think the photos certainly captured the essence of the day…

Caroline and Francois saw the new Celine Dion Show and thought it was outstanding and took in Love (The Beatles Production) as well. They snuck away for a day and drove to Utah to visit Francois’ cousin and take in the Grand Canyon. Caroline and Francois were simply overwhelmed by the site of the Grand Canyon They have had a great time here (obviously for the Wedding too) and were treated very well at the Bellagio Hotel.

Congratulations to you Caroline and Francois …may your trip back to Canada be safe and your wonderful Las Vegas Wedding Day Memories last forever. It will certainly be a day The Martin Photo Group will always cherish!

The Bear’s Jersey Retirement Ceremony

..Bear…thanks for letting the Martin Photo Group be a small part of such a special day for you…Sure you were one hell of a baseball player but to me all the things you have done off the field to help those young men all these years at Rancho HS certainly is what seperates the great from the good..seeing you around the players before the game it’s certainly apparent how much you mean to those young men and how much they look up to you and appreciate your support…

…thanks again… and Goodbye to #2..

Whether it’s Bear’s Jersey retirement or your special Moments rest assured our Experience makes the difference and our Passion ensures it!

…Awesome Folks at the Recovery Center…

….was glad to get the call from Alison Elliott and the fine folks at the Central Recovery Center for help with their new branding makeover… after meeting with Dr Claudia Black it’s easy to see why she is regarded as one of the very top in her profession. She is a kind and genuine person, and truly cares not only about the recovery of her patients but the atmosphere where they receive their treatment and care. The Martin Photo Group enjoys helping people and businesses with all of their photography needs. Dr Black was elated with her lifestyle portraits and said they were the best she’s ever had taken! Which obviously made the Martin Photo Group extremely happy!
